Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari: Flavio Briatore discusses F1 star's potential move - Exclusive
LEWIS HAMILTON has no reason to leave Mercedes for Ferrari.
That’s the verdict of former Benetton and Renault chief Flavio Briatore in the wake of the Brit winning the 2017 Formula One title.
Hamilton wrapped up the fourth World Drivers’ Championship of his career at the Mexican Grand Prix three weeks ago.
And next year he’ll be looking to go level with Argentine great Juan Manuel Fangio on five as he chases down Michael Schumacher’s record of seven titles.
Speculation over the last few years has suggested Hamilton could quit Mercedes for Ferrari when his contract expires in 2018.
Why would he change?
Briatore isn’t convinced Hamilton would jump ship to join the Italian constructors though.
"I don’t know, I don’t know," Briatore told Express Sport, when asked if he could see Hamilton at Ferrari.
"Lewis Hamilton is very happy with Mercedes, they have a winning car.

"Why would he change?"
Hamilton has an unassailable 43-point lead over Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel at the top of the drivers’ standings.
And he’ll be looking to extend that further when the 2017 F1 campaign draws to a close at Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit on Sunday November 26.
