Mexican Grand Prix: Lewis Hamilton told to race as "normal" by F1 legend Niki Lauda
LEWIS HAMILTON must race as "normal" at the Mexican Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton can win the Formula One Drivers' Championship at the Mexican Grand Prix
That's the verdict of Formula One legend Niki Lauda, who revealed he offered his advice to the Mercedes driver ahead of the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez showdown with Sebastian Vettel.
Lauda told Sky Sports pundit Martin Brundle: "Good start. Long way to the first corner. Lewis wants to win this race.
"I said [to Lewis] don't drive any differently to normal. Try to win and then the championship comes anyway."
Hamilton's race got off to the worst possible start in Mexico City though.
Vettel crashes into Verstappen and Hamilton in the first lap
The Brit was forced off the track in lap one following a collision with Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel.
The incident saw his right-rear tyre punctured and meant he slipped to the back of the pack.
Hamilton can win the F1 Drivers' Championship if he finishes fifth or higher at the Mexican Grand Prix.
