F1 testing 2017: Five things we learned from day two in Barcelona
F1 TESTING entered its second day in Barcelona as teams edge closer towards the first Grand Prix of the season in Australia on March 26 - but what have we learned about the grid from Tuesday’s two testing sessions?
Lewis Hamilton and Lance Stroll fared very differently on the second day of F1 testing in Barcelona
Mercedes are definitely still on top
Lap times in testing don’t mean the world, although Lewis Hamilton will have been very happy to be the fastest man in Spain yesterday.
And while he will have been less happy for Kimi Raikkonen to knock him off the No 1 spot today, the sheer volume of running Mercedes were able to record will have pleased the Brit and everyone in the garage.
Liberty Media have already started the post-Bernie Ecclestone era
One of the first promises of Liberty, F1’s new owners, was to release the shackles on teams and drivers about posting on social media during testing and races.
Already, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook are covered with footage, pictures and all sorts of content much of which would have contravened the old draconian regulations.
If this is a sign of things to come, it would usher in a new and spectacular era to be an F1 fan with the ability to get closer to the action than ever before.
