Formula One teams have a fortnight to prepare for their next meeting at the United States Grand Prix. Red Bull will be hoping to make the necessary improvements to help Max Verstappen win his first race since June 23, while McLaren's Lando Norris is preparing for a six-race sprint with Verstappen for the World Drivers' Championship.

The Red Bull star has complained about the performance of his car in recent weeks. Now, technical advisor Helmut Marko has poured fuel on speculation that the Verstappen could not only quit the team, but F1 entirely.

Meanwhile, it comes during a week in which F1 icon Michael Schumacher is reported to have attended the wedding of his daughter, Gina-Maria. Little is know of the seven-time world champion's condition following his skiing accident 11 years ago.

Sergio Perez sent Red Bull warning

Helmut Marko has warned Sergio Perez about his Formula One future.

The Mexican driver has struggled at Red Bull this season despite signing a new deal during the summer.

Perez is eighth in the drivers’ leaderboard and has only scored four podiums in 2024.

“There is only a guarantee in Formula One sport if you perform accordingly,” Marko told sport.de.

The veteran Red Bull advisor added: “Perez has fluctuations, we know that. Especially when the car is modified at short notice, it takes him longer to adapt.

“That is certainly one factor why McLaren is currently stronger than us in terms of driver pairings.

“In terms of speed, he can do it. He just has fluctuations that are becoming more and more unpredictable.”

Toto Wolff had fear over Kimi Antonelli

Toto Wolff has revealed that Mercedes moved quickly to sign Kimi Antonelli to avoid him learning different ‘behaviours’ at Williams.

Kimi Antonelli will replace Lewis Hamilton’s Silver Arrows seat and will race alongside George Russell.

Russell had a spell at Williams before his promotion to Mercedes in 2022 but Wolff does not want Antonelli to go down the same route.

The Austrian told Autosprint: “Now is the time to make a change in terms of generation after the departure of Lewis, because nothing will be as it was before.

“We will be dealing with a young team next year. Going into the season with George and Antonelli means we are opening a new era. The previous era was great and now is the time to turn a page and make a new start.

“The reason Antonelli is driving immediately for Mercedes, and will not first make his debut at Williams is because you want him fresh, not contaminated – if you can put it that way – by external experiences.

“If he went to another team first, he would learn different things, behaviours, have different notions about technical things than us. We want to avoid that. I think it only brings advantages to have a young driver with you right away.”

Michael Schumacher could make second public appearance

Michael Schumacher could make a second appearance very soon with son Mick also recently engaged.

Schumacher is widely reported to have attended the wedding of his daughter, Gina-Maria.

Guests were given strict rules to ensure the 55-year-old's privacy was well respected.

And there could be further similar events in the Schumacher family with son Mick - who has also raced in F1 - set to wed fiancee Laila Hasanovic.

Max Verstappen exit clause confirmed

Helmut Marko has raised fears that Max Verstappen could quit Red Bull by confirming that the driver has an exit clause.

Verstappen has been linked with a departure over his frustrations with Red Bull's development progress.

“The danger is there,” Marko admitted to sport.de.

“Max is not the type to beat [Michael] Schumacher’s or [Lewis] Hamilton’s records. When he’s in the car, he wants to win. But the environment has to be right. If the whole thing no longer suits him, you can expect him to say from one day to the next: That’s it!

“Most top drivers have exit clauses that are performance-related. Max has one too. This means that if we can’t provide him with a car in which he can drive at the front, that is certainly something he will consider.”

Michael Schumacher's family respond to communication claims

Michael Schumacher's family reportedly deny claims that the F1 icon cannot talk.

Little is known of Schumacher's condition following the accident that caused him life-altering injuries in 2013.

However, plenty of people inside and outside of F1 have been keen to speculate on the German former driver's life.

Elisabetta Gregoraci, the ex-wife of Flavio Briatore, once claimed on the Italian version of Big Brother that Schumacher communicates only with his eyes, and that he cannot speak.

However, the Daily Mail claims members of the Schumacher family, as well as others with knowledge of the situation, refute that.
