Boris Becker's blunt response to Lewis Hamilton after Daniel Ricciardo axe
Lewis Hamilton sent a message of support to Daniel Ricciardo earlier this week.
Boris Becker kept his thoughts to the minimum when responding to Lewis Hamilton’s heartfelt message to Daniel Ricciardo.
The 35-year-old was axed from his role at RB earlier this week, with Liam Lawson replacing him for the final six races of the season.
The writing was on the wall for Ricciardo over the past few weeks, though the nature of his departure has not taken the gloss off of his sensational career. Support has poured in for the ex-Red Bull star, with rivals publicly praising his work on and off the track.

Hamilton is among those who have heaped praise on Ricciardo, writing an Instagram post which read: “It’s been an honour to compete with you over the years.
“I’ll never forget the battles, the laughs, and drinking out of your shoe. It was gross, but glad I got to do it with you bud.
“You leave a legacy of always being yourself, which in this sport is never easy. You’ve taken it all with the biggest smile and I salute you for it. There is so much more for you up ahead and I can’t wait to see what you do next. Always here for you, man.”
The post received over two million likes, with hundreds of Hamilton’s writing comments to send their support to Ricciardo after his axing.
Tennis legend Becker was among those to write a comment, though he opted to keep it short and sweet. The former world No. 1 simply wrote: “Word,” along with three emojis – hands being raised, clapping and a red heart.
McLaren boss Zak Brown also wrote a farewell message to Ricciardo, having signed him in 2021 after Carlos Sainz joined Ferrari. Brown wrote: “Daniel, you’re one of a kind. A supremely quick driver and an awesome person to be around.
“Your win in Monza will forever be etched into McLaren’s history. It was one of the best moments of my life, and I have the tattoo to prove it! I know that day meant a lot to you, too. Watching you thrash Dale Earnhardt Sr’s 1984 Chevrolet Monte Carlo around COTA is also one of my favourite memories of our time together! MEGA! All the best in your next adventure, and I know you’ll crush whatever it is.”
