Red Bull engineer's wife slams claims off back of Christian Horner comments as 'b****cks'
A Red Bull engineer's wife was clearly not happy.
Adrian Newey's wife Amanda has branded claims talking down her husband's efforts in designing Red Bull's RB19 racer as "absolute b****cks". Newey was credited with being at the forefront of the RB19's creation but recent comments from Christian Horner suggested Pierre Wache had more of a hands-on role with the concept than Red Bull's Chief Technical Officer.
Speaking to Motorsport.com, Horner said: "Adrian is a big part of this team and big part of what we’ve achieved. But of course, his role has evolved over the last few years and the technical team beneath him led by Pierre Wache, they’re doing a wonderful job and so that they’re not reliant on Adrian.
"He has the ability to come in, come out and work on other projects and I think that’s part of the evolution of any team. I was always a big fan of Manchester United, not as a Man United fan, but of Alex Ferguson, they had [Eric] Cantona and then they just evolve.
"Red Bull is a team that, we're stronger for having Adrian with us, but of course the rest of the team is evolving." Newey has played a massive part in designing many of the cars to have dominated the grid over the years.

The legendary designer has contributed towards 14 cars that have gone on to claim titles, including the RB19, which won 21 out of 22 grands prix in 2023 en route to last season's F1 constructor and driver world championships.
Newey's wife feels like her husband's contributions are being forgotten about and took to X, formerly Twitter, to voice her displeasure. "What a load of hogwash," she tweeted in response to two outlets' suggestions that his squad's technical leadership has evolved to "not be reliant" on Newey.

She also responded to a separate user who suggested the RB19 was a 'Peter Wache-designed car' by writing: "Absolute b****cks". However, Horner did have a lot of praise for Newey's influence, saying: "The team’s not ever just about one person, of course, but he’s a key player in our organisation.
"It’s great to have him with us, he enjoys the environment that he works in, he enjoys working with young, talented engineers – and we’ve got some incredible talent that we’re nurturing and developing, and that stimulates him. He’s 64 years young and just as motivated as ever."
