Max Verstappen won the season-ending Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix from pole position for Red Bull on Sunday. Champions Mercedes completed the podium places in a processional race with Valtteri Bottas second and seven times world champion Lewis Hamilton third.
Verstappen's success under the Yas Marina floodlights ended a run of six successive Abu Dhabi Grand Prix wins by Mercedes and was the 23-year-old Dutch driver's second victory of the season and 10th of his career.
After the victory, the Dutch driver said: "It was really enjoyable yesterday and today had a good start and from there I could look after the tyres but the car had a really good balance. It was really enjoyable out there today. We did everything alright.
"I saw they [Mercedes] were dropping off behind so I could take it a bit easier overall. It was a very strong race for the team.
"I enjoyed that I won. I will enjoy the podium and then will enjoy going home."
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton wants cars to be able to follow more next season.
He explained: "Physically, massively. I don't think I have ever been so blown. But, look on the bright side, I made it through and I didn't think last week I would be here.
"I am looking forward to recovering, getting back into training and back to where I know I should be.
"I hope and pray in 2021 the cars are better to follow. I don't know if it was a boring race to watch but once you get within two seconds you are sliding around and in turbulence the whole time."
