Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel tipped for 'crazy' Red Bull link up after Ferrari exit
Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel have been backed by Jan Lammers to team up at Red Bull if Alex Albon is shown the door.

Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel might still end up as Red Bull team-mates despite Christian Horner insisting a move is not on the cards. That is the verdict of former F1 driver Jan Lammers, who believes Red Bull will consider "crazy things" if Alex Albon does not step up.
Vettel is set to become a free agent later this year after Ferrari opted against extending his bumper contract beyond the end of the 2020 F1 season.
Moves to a host of the Italians' F1 rivals have been ruled out, with McLaren, Renault and Racing Point all set on their driver line-ups for next year.
Mercedes are poised to retain Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, while team principal Horner has stated Red Bull have no plans to re-sign four-time champion Vettel.

Lammers, though, can see Red Bull swooping for Vettel if Verstappen's current team-mate Albon does not bridge the gap to the Dutchman.
"If Albon does not meet the requirements, you can get crazy things," Lammers told the NOS Formula 1 podcast.

"I think it is conceivable that Red Bull is strongly considering getting Vettel back. It would be a nice surprise."
Verstappen and Albon both suffered heartache at the Austrian Grand Prix earlier this month when their RB16s failed and they were forced to retire.
They finished third and fourth at last weekend's Styrian Grand Prix but Verstappen underlined his superiority by ending the race with a healthy gap back to his team-mate.
Red Bull are desperate to end Mercedes' dominance of F1 and have previously been ruthless when it comes to changing their driver line-up in a bid to make up the lost ground.
And Albon might be in the firing line if he fails to help Verstappen take the fight to Mercedes in the upcoming races of the 2020 season.

Next up for Verstappen and co. is Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix, which has been on the F1 calendar every year since 1986.
Verstappen finished second at the Hungaroring in 2019 and Dutch esports expert and racing driver Rudy van Buren is hopeful Red Bull can do the business there this time around.
"It's been another year when Red Bull doesn't seem to be able to close the gap," Van Buren said.
"But on a circuit like Hungary, this weekend, anything is possible. Only then will we see how the ranking is."
Verstappen and Albon are currently sixth and eighth respectively in the F1 drivers' standings, with Vettel down in 15th.
