Felipe Massa admits he 'couldn't see' during Paris ePrix due to water in his helmet
FELIPE MASSA has revealed he had zero visibility at times during the Paris ePrix due to a problem with his helmet visor.
Massa finished a chaotic race ninth after aquaplaning out of third place then being punted off by NIO driver Oliver Turvey in atrocious conditions.
And the Brazilian has admitted his afternoon was made even harder by a visor problem that caused water to come into his helmet.
Massa revealed he had problems seeing while behind the wheel of his Venturi car and has suggested the issue cost him a significant points haul.
Speaking after the race, Massa said: “There was a lot of water coming inside my visor, and I couldn’t see anything.
“I had to race with an open visor and the visibility was really terrible. This for sure put me at a slower pace, and we need to investigate why we had this problem.
“I have a little anti-fog [device] – maybe water was inside there. I couldn’t see anything so I had the whole race with an open visor.”
Massa has had a tough time since switching to Formula E at the start of the 2018/19 season and currently sits 16th in the Drivers’ Standings.
The former Ferrari ace has shown improved pace at recent events but fell foul of a sudden hailstorm before being knocked down an escape road by Turvey when he missed his braking point.
“Turvey pushed me out,” he explained.
“Maybe he lost his braking, and he pushed me out. I went straight in corner three, and he also went straight in corner three.
“Even with all the problems I had with my visor – I couldn’t see anything – it was still possible to finish in the top five or top six.
“I lost good points today, It’s frustrating because of that but we need to go again at the next one.”
