Amir removed Rohit Sharma lbw after just three balls of India's reply to Pakistan's first innings total of 338-4.
He then got the prize wicket of Virat Kohli in his next over before having the tournament's top run scorer Shikhar Dhawan caught behind for 21, to reduce his opponents to 33-3.
Amir paid tribute to the performance of his side following the heavy defeat to India in the opening group game of the tournament and said early wickets were key to today's victory.
"I think that was the start we needed and we were looking for that," Amir said on Sky Sports.

"To be honest I think this is a whole team work, the way we batted, the way we bowled, the way we are fielding.
"It's all about momentum and after the South Africa game, the way we were playing, I think that was outstanding. That gave us momentum and we did it today."
Mohammad Hafeez struck an unbeaten 57 from 37 balls in the Pakistan innings and he was delighted to clinch the win for his fans.

"It's a great, great team effort," Hafeez said.
"We know from where we come from after losing the first game, we were nowhere.
"And then we were in the knockout state and everyone had great, great character.
"The nation has been waiting for this for a long, long time."
