Geoffrey Boycott's contentious bid to rejoin Yorkshire's board has failed after he was rejected by the county's members.

The former White Rose captain and president's decision to stand for election was openly opposed by members' committee chief Stephen Mann, who claimed that "members aren't in favour of Geoffrey".
That view was endorsed in the postal vote, in which 602 votes were in favour of his return and 758 against.
There were fears that the 75-year-old broadcaster and former England batsman would interfere with on-field matters, though he stated he wanted to help with the club's finances.
