Joe Root has a ton of fun
JOE ROOT became the first Yorkshireman to score his maiden Test century at Headingley yesterday.
England finished the day on 337 for seven and Root was the star of the show, hitting 104.
He shared a stand of 124 with his county team-mate Jonny Bairstow, much to the delight of the partisan home crowd.
Root, 22, playing his sixth Test, said: “I just enjoy playing my cricket and getting to play here for England is pretty special.
“I got lost in the moment when I got my century but will always remember it.”
