Ex-England captain Mike Denness dies
FORMER England captain Mike Denness has died of cancer at the age of 72.
Denness, who also captained his county Kent, played 28 Tests and 12 One Day Internationals in his 22-year career.
Denness, a classy batsman, remains the only Scot to have captained England. He did so in 19 Tests.
He scored a staggering 25,000 runs in his county-cricket career and was awarded an OBE in the New Years honours list for services to cricket.
