Shane Warne: Australia ‘are not in crisis’
SHANE WARNE has declared reports of Australia’s death as a cricket superpower greatly exaggerated and predicted an Ashes defeat for England.
Australia’s run of six successive losses and dressing-room bickering over the captaincy of the one-day side have painted a picture of a team in decline.
But Warne insists that is wishful thinking by an over-cocky England, who begin their tour today.
“I sense for the first time in a long while the English attitude is different – more sarcasm, lip and arrogance. And if England come over with the wrong attitude it could end in tears,” he said.
“Australia aren’t playing as well as they’d like but a crisis is when you haven’t got good players. But don’t tell me Shane Watson, Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke and Peter Siddle aren’t good.
“Australia will win because our bowlers know the conditions here better.”
