‘Chris Gayle has been bowled’ - stunning moment ball hit stumps but did NOT dislodge bails
CHRIS GAYLE received some unbelievable luck during West Indies’ Cricket World Cup clash against Australia today.
West Indies were chasing Australia’s total of 288 at Trent Bridge in both teams’ second game of the competition.
On the fifth ball of the third over, with the Windies already one down after losing Evin Lewis, Gayle was given out caught behind off Mitchell Starc.

The powerful left-hander reviewed immediately, claiming he did not hit it.
Replays confirmed Gayle was right to review, with Ultra Edge showing no contact with the bat.
So essentially Chris Gayle has been bowled
And remarkably the clear noise that was heard was the ball clipping the top of the off stump.
The bails did not dislodge and they, and the stumps, did not light up as they normally would.
Former Australia batsman Michael Slater could not believe what he saw.
“He’s saying he did not hit it,” Slater said.
“Australians, well they’re confident.
“It’s hit the stump! Can you believe that? So essentially Chris Gayle has been bowled.
“It has hit the stump, no lights, bail stays on, and Australia gets it wrong.
“What would have been more dramatic is if it lit up the stumps and the bails but nothing moved.
“It would have stopped the challenge.”
Legendary West Indian bowler Michael Holding added: “Well Chris Gayle went upstairs immediately.
“He knew he didn’t touch it immediately.
“He didn’t consult anyone, he just went upstairs.”
Two balls later Gayle was given out again, this time LBW, but he was once again successful with his review.
However, Starc finally got rid of Gayle as he had him trapped LBW in his next over for 21.
