PSL table and schedule 2019: Pakistan Super League points table, team news and fixtures
THE Pakistan Super League returned to action this weekend, as sides aimed to confirm their spot in the playoffs ahead of a crucial final week. Express Sport has all the details on points tables, team news and the latest fixtures.
Fourth-placed Karachi Kings stunned Quetta Gladiators, securing victory by a single run.
A haul of 99 for Ahmed Shehzad was not enough for the leaders as they were defeated for only the third time this season.
Despite building a healthy lead early on, the Kings needed three wickets in a dramatic final over to secure the two points, bowler Usman Shinwari the star of the show taking 3-3.
Sunday’s result means the four teams in the playoffs - Quetta, Peshawar, Islamabad and Karachi - are now confirmed.
However, a lot is still riding on today’s final group clash between the Kings and second-placed Peshawar Zalmi.
The winner will move straight to a qualifier match, avoiding the first eliminator game and so moving just two games from away from a potential title.
As the fourth edition of the Twenty20 league approaches its conclusion, Islamabad United will look to retain their title and land a third crown.
However, despite defeat to the Kings, top of the table Quetta Gladiators will be confident they can secure a maiden triumph.
The final will be held next Sunday, March 17, at Karachi’s National Stadium.
