Dillian Whyte sends ‘weakness' warning to Joseph Parker ahead of world heavyweight bout
DILLIAN WHYTE has warned Joseph Parker not to mistake his “kindness for weakness” after weighing in over a stone heavier than the New Zealander.
Whyte and Parker came face-to-face earlier this afternoon at the weigh-in ahead of tomorrow night’s blockbuster event at the 02 arena.
It promises to be a fascinating contest with both fighters keen to put themselves at the front of the queue for a title shot.
Parker is the slight favourite to come out on top but Whyte’s camp have suggested the Briton’s power will cause his opponent problems.
Both boxers have said they aim to finish the bout before the final bell but there has also been a level of respect shown by the pair of them.
However, after Whyte weighed in at 18st 7lbs - over a stone heavier than Parker who hit the scales at 17st 4lbs - the Jamaica-born boxer fired a warning shot to Parker stating there will be no more Mr Nice Guy when they enter the ring tomorrow evening.
"I was always going to come in as the heavier man because I'm the naturally bigger man,” Whyte told Sky Sports.
"It was a short camp so we didn't want to focus on draining. We just wanted to get the weight down to somewhere we could move, and be effective, and move as quick as I could.
"I've got speed, timing and a lot of power.
"I am cool, calm and collected which he has taken for weakness. I'll show him that the Junkyard Dog is still here, he's just behaving himself.
"Don't take my kindness for weakness."
