Anthony Joshua denies ‘having a panic attack’ against Ruiz Jr
Anthony Joshua denies panic attack rumour
Former WBA (Super), WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has insisted he didn’t suffer a panic attack ahead of his loss to Andy Ruiz Jr.
“I warmed up really well,” said Joshua. “I had no panic attack – I’m not that type of person, you know me.
“I have to take my loss like a man. No blaming anyone, no blaming anything. I’m the one who went in there to perform and my performance didn’t go to plan.”
This is serious business
Gennady Golovkin defends Steve Rolls fight
Former unified middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin is adamant his bout with Steve Rolls this weekend isn’t a tune-up fight.
“I respect my opponent. Steve Rolls is undefeated,” ‘GGG’ said. “This is serious business.
“It’s a very dangerous sport. I believe he’s ready for Saturday night, this is a real fight.”
Tony Bellew assess heavyweight division
Former WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew believes Tyson Fury is now the No.1 heavyweight on the planet following Joshua’ loss to Ruiz Jr.
“Looking at it now, I had Anthony Joshua as number one clear favourite, but Andy Ruiz shocked the world," Bellew told talkSPORT. "I can’t make Ruiz Jr the number one, so I would probably have to say Tyson Fury at the minute.
“But it’s all hyperbole to be honest, my opinion doesn’t matter. What matters is if AJ goes back in with Andy Ruiz Jr and irons him out, how do we start the rankings again, then?”
