Boxing news: Eddie Hearn reveals major development in Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte saga
EDDIE HEARN has revealed he and Dillian Whyte have accepted the WBC’s proposal to fight Tyson Fury.
Tyson Fury WANTS to fight Dillian Whyte says Eddie Hearn
Earlier this month, the World Boxing Council ordered a title eliminator fight between Tyson Fury and Whyte, with the winner earning a shot at champion Deontay Wilder.
Whyte has been Wilder’s mandatory challenger since 2017 but has yet to be given the opportunity to face ‘The Bronze Bomber’.
Fury skipped the line last December and fought Wilder to an unforgettable draw in Los Angeles.
Team Fury initially scoffed at the idea of having to face Whyte in an eliminator fight in order to land a rematch with Wilder.
But according to Hearn, ‘The Gypsy King’ - who will face Tom Schwarz on June 15 - is willing to throw down with his fellow Brit so long as the WBC Diamond Championship is on the line.
“Tyson Fury said he will fight Dillian Whyte for the WBC Diamond championship,” Hearn told IFL TV. “So we’ve told the WBC we accept that, no problem.
“So we’re [Whyte] fighting Oscar Rivas, and the WBC will order Tyson Fury against Dillian Whyte.
"Tyson Fury will have to confirm after he fights on June 15th, whether he’ll keep his word and accept that fight, so we will see.

“We’ve said to the WBC, ‘Please order that fight,’ which they’ve confirmed they will do.
“We’re getting the final resolution down, and we will see if Tyson Fury will fight Dillian Whyte after June 15th."
Hearn believes Fury vs Whyte will make for a thoroughly entertaining fight, adding: “I’m not interested in the Diamond belt. I’m interested in Dillian Whyte vs. Tyson Fury. It’s a great fight. But Dillian Whyte wants to fight Deontay Wilder.
"If the WBC is saying he has to fight Oscar Rivas and Tyson Fury to get to Wilder, so be it. Right now, he has to beat Oscar Rivas on July 20th, which is a great fight."
Joshua would beat Fury AND Wilder claims Hearn
Fury’s proposed rematch with Wilder collapsed after he signed a lucrative multi-fight deal with EPSN.
But the former heavyweight king is expecting their eagerly-anticipated second encounter to take place in the spring of 2020.
"Deontay Wilder cannot run from Tyson Fury forever. The fight has to happen," he told ESPN. "This rematch has got to happen, but it won't be in May, June, July or August.
"This fight, I'm being told, is likely to happen in March or April next year."
