Boxing news: Anthony Joshua purse demand, Dominic Breazeale's Wilder vow, Amir Khan talks
BOXING NEWS - Express Sport brings you the latest ongoings in the boxing world.
Deontay Wilder reveals Anthony Joshua purse demand
WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has revealed he wants a minimum of £78million ($100million) for a unification title fight with Anthony Joshua.
“Most definitely [believe the fight is worth $100m],” he said. “We know the magnitude of the fight.
“The heavyweight division is so exciting now, the money is so huge in the sport right now. It’s one thing to watch fighters and know what they’re capable of doing, but the whole business side is another thing.
“That’s why I appreciate Shelly and my team trying to explain certain things to me, because sometimes it gets complicated for me to even explain. They’ve been in it for over 30 years.
“Shelly and Al [Haymon] together combined have been in it for over 60 years. So why would they not know the route to go?
“They know what it takes, they’ve had all the champions before.
“They know how to take a fighter to the next level and to the top and you’ve got to trust in the people that have the years of experience over anyone."
Dominic Breazeale
Dominic Breazeale reveals future plans
Dominic Breazeale has set his sights on a rematch with Joshua after his showdown with Wilder early on Sunday morning.
"Definitely. I would love to be back in the ring 90 days from Saturday night, me and Anthony Joshua, somewhere here on US soil,” the Olympian said when asked if he’d like to take on ‘AJ’ next.
“I know Joshua’s making his debut June 1 here in New York. That would be one hell of a fight, a rematch between me and Joshua for the undisputed heavyweight championship in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“I think that would be something the world definitely needs to see.”
Amir Khan makes bold Manny Pacquiao prediction
Amir Khan has backed Manny Pacquiao to win his WBA welterweight title bout with Keith Thurman.
“I think Manny Pacquiao v Keith Thurman is a good fight. For me, I just don’t feel Keith Thurman has got it in him anymore,” Khan told World Boxing News.
“I mean his last performance – I’m just trying to compare what Keith Thurman did against Josesito Lopez to what Manny Pacquiao did against Adrien Broner.
"What would Manny Pacquiao have done to Josesito Lopez?
“I just think Keith doesn’t have it in him. I’m not sure what lifestyle he lives outside of the ring or whether being out of the ring so long has affected him.
“It’s hard to say, but I just feel Manny would have too much for him.”
