Boxing news: Jarrell Miller admits the ONE advantage Anthony Joshua has on him
JARRELL MILLER believes the only advantage Anthony Joshua has on him is height.
Miller has the chance of a lifetime on June 1 at Madison Square Garden, where he will fight Joshua for the WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight titles.
AJ’s stateside debut came as a last resort more than anything, with Wembley match-ups against Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte all falling through.
Miller is largely an untested heavyweight, boasting a 23-0-1 record without having faced even a former world champion before.
Joshua, meanwhile, has had seven world title fights and defended his straps successfully on six occasions.
Crucially, both fighters are under the Matchroom Boxing stable, owned by Eddie Hearn, who thinks it’s a more even bout than people believe.
Miller is, nevertheless, a big underdog for the match-up despite the fight taking place in his home city.
The New Yorker is a naturally large heavyweight, weighing 315lb for his last fight (Joshua weighed 245lb), and will be one of the few men to have an imposing figure on AJ.
Speaking about his strengths - but also conceding his one inferiority - Miller spoke to Sky Sports about the fight.
AJ has an inch or so in height, that's about it
“I’m a guy that's actually bigger than him,” Miller said, citing his weight rather than two inch deficit.
“AJ has an inch or so in height, that's about it, but activity and boxing IQ, good head movement and defence.
"I can throw a lot of punches and have a heart of 10 lions. I'm totally different.
"That's the main goal - run him over. I'm not playing no games with AJ.”
Jarrell Miller vows to give Anthony Joshua a 'Brooklyn beatdown'
Such is Miller’s unique build, the unbeaten heavyweight feels it is tough for Joshua to gear his training towards him.
“There's no way to prepare for me,” Miller added.
“There's no right way for preparing for a person like me. Tune in. 'Big Baby' Miller is not just the American champ, he's the English champ, he's the people's champ.
"If you want entertainment, you're going to get it, and this is a fight you need to see."
