Khan vs Brook is ‘not appealing’ for THIS reason - Carl Frampton EXCLUSIVE
AMIR KHAN’s rumoured fight against Kell Brook is “not appealing”, according to Carl Frampton.
Khan returned to the ring in April after a two-year lay-off from the sport, during which he underwent hand surgery.
The comeback win against Phil Lo Greco was explosive but reflected the calibre of his opponent, with Khan winning by a 39-second knockout.
The Bolton fighter then took on unfancied Samuel Vargas in September, winning via unanimous decision.
His performance did suggest that of a fighter with ring rust, however, with Khan hitting the canvas in the second round.
The 31-year-old also managed to knockdown his opponent twice, though, and comfortably secured his points victory.
Following the bout, Khan pinpointed Manny Pacquiao as his next fight preference, much to British boxing fans’ anger.
There is clamour for Khan to take on Brook, who has expressed his willingness to drop down to welterweight in order to make the fight happen.
In Khan insisting his yearning to face Pacquiao beforehand, he has come under criticism and accusations that he is running scared of the Yorkshire boxer.
It was appealing to me a couple of years ago. Now it’s like… So what?
It is a fight that the public have demanded for years, but former featherweight champion Frampton feels the allure has been lost.
“It’s not as appealing to me now,” Frampton exclusively told Express Sport.
“It was appealing to me a couple of years ago. Now it’s like… So what?
“But if it does go ahead then I would favour Brook. I would say Brook wins it.”
Frampton faces Leeds fighter Josh Warrington for the IBF featherweight strap on December 22, and feels more domestic fights should be made when the public demand it.
“[Khan vs Brook] has lost the hype for dragging it out,” The Jackal continued.
“That’s the problem at times, things drag on and people become uninterested. That’s what’s happened with Khan and Brook.”
