Boxing News - Tyson Fury takes aim at Deontay Wilder
Tyson Fury has fired yet another shot Deontay Wilder’s way, claiming the WBC heavyweight champion has a heavily-padded record.
“If I come through this, then Wilder has the chance to fight me for the lineal championship,” the Wythenshawe native said.
“Let’s face it, he’s not really fought anybody and he’s had 40 fights.”
Boxing News - Anthony Joshua’s promoter and coach slammed
Fury’s coach Ben Davison believes Eddie Hearn and Rob McCracken aren’t keen on having Anthony Joshua fight Wilder.
“I believe that Anthony Joshua wants the fight, I don’t believe that Eddie Hearn and Rob McCracken want the fight,” Davison told iFL TV. “Does it make them wrong? It’s not really up to me to decide.
“Whereas if everyone wants the fight and you’re sensible with the money and the business side of things, and you’re fair, the fight can be made if the fighters want to fight.
“You can say that you want to fight and then… I’ll say this.
I want to turn the page on this and focus on this big fight on Sept 15 I want to move forward
“For what they’ve [Matchroom] offered Deontay Wilder [to fight Joshua], I know that minimum guarantee of these fights [Wilder vs Fury] outweigh what they [Matchroom] offered Deontay Wilder for that fight. Minimum guarantee.
“They hid behind business because what they offered is not acceptable on Deontay Wilder’s terms. They are both champions.
“We’ve got a triangle here between Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury. If two of them want to box, it has got to be fair along the business side of things. That is another way you can get out of the fight if you don’t want it.
“I do believe Anthony Joshua does want the fight. Wilder is definitely game for that fight. But whether they are right or wrong, it’s not really my place to say. We’ll have to wait and see.”
Boxing News - Canelo Alvarez talks failed drug test
Canelo Alvarez has claimed he’s no longer concerned about his failed drug test and that he's focused solely on his September rematch with Gennady Golovkin.
Alvarez tested positive for clenbuterol in mid-February in the fighters’ voluntary anti-doping program but the Mexican denies intentionally taking the banned substance
“I’ve already spoken about what has happened,” the Mexican told HBO. “I want to turn the page on this and focus on this big fight on Sept. 15. I want to move forward. The people know.
“I gave the explanation I needed to give at the moment I needed to give it. I’m 100 per cent focused on this upcoming fight and nothing more.
“I already touched on that topic. I already gave an interview on that topic.
“That was going to be the only and last interview that I was going to do on that topic so that I could turn the page on this chapter and so that we could all focus 100 per cent on the fight.
“If there is any doubt, I would like for everyone to grab from there [the interview] because I won’t be saying the same thing to every single person. We gave an exclusive interview on this topic.
“I did to so that every one of you would refer to that interview regarding what happened.”
