Antiques Roadshow: Ronnie Archer-Morgan STUNS guest with unexpected lighter value
ANTIQUES ROADSHOW continued this evening and the team returned to Trelissick to look for another antique worth selling - and Ronnie Archer-Morgan may have stumbled across something pretty special.
Antiques Roadshow: Expert values diary at £30,000
While Jon Baddeley perched himself on a giant wooden chair, Ronnie was busy looking for some antiques.
Although it was slim pickings throughout the episode of Antiques Roadshow, Ronnie did stumble across a very unsuspecting piece.
In a montage of priceless heirlooms, Ronnie began examining a gold coloured lighter which was decades old.
He began explaining: “This is called the Dunhill Sport.
“It used to be one of my favourite lighters to find.”
He then went on to quiz the owner, asking: “Do you know what it’s made of?”
Baffled, she replied: “Presumably gold?”
Smiling, Ronnie confirmed: “It is gold!”
Ecstatic, the owner added: “The age?”
“It is hallmark capital A,” Ronnie revealed. “So that’s 1936.
“And I bet you don’t want to know the value, do you?”
After confirming she was interested, the owner added: “It was just tucked in the bottom of a drawer, so…”
Ronnie then proceeded to drop the bombshell price, announcing: “In this condition, in gold: £1000.”
Gobsmacked, the lighter’s owner yelped: “Okay! Wow!”
And viewers were just as shocked, with one writing: “Gold lighter £1000 #AntiquesRoadshow.”
Previously on Antiques Roadshow a guest brought in a manuscript to be valued - but Richard Price was surprised at the conditions it had been kept.
Although Richard was enamoured by the story surrounding the item, he issued a stark warning to the owner.
“I don’t want it back under your bed or wherever it was before.” he stated.
But the owner explained: “It was under mum’s TV,”
Shocked, Richard announced: “Under the TV? Getting warm! Look after it. You must go to Cambridge to let the real people work on it.”
Antiques Roadshow continues Sunday at 8pm on BBC One.
