Poldark returns to screens this month and brings Aidan Turner back as Captain Poldark.
He is returning alongside his trusty horse Seamus, who he has been partnered with since the beginning of season one.
However it has been revealed that Aidan did always like the look of Seamus.
Aidan originally worked with another horse before filming, leaving Seamus as the second choice.
But the reason he stuck with Seamus may surprise viewers.
Speaking to Radio Times, Aidan revealed: “When I first went up to Yorkshire to choose a horse, Seamus wasn’t my favourite.
“Initially, I preferred a horse called Jonny Wilkinson, because he’s a lot bigger and quite a goer.
“The two of us together made trainer Mark [Atkinson] quite nervous, so he persuaded me to go with Seamus.”
He went on to explain what pushed him over the edge in taking Seamus over Johnny.
Aidan continued: “Cleverly, he said, ‘You look great on Jonny, but you look better on Seamus – he’s smaller, so he makes you look bigger.’

“I immediately switched horse!”
The 34-year-old also announced how he spends his quality time with his steed.
“I do pet and hug him a lot,” he said.
“And sleep on him. Between scenes I sometimes have a snooze. We really are close.”
Aidan added he and Seamus have “similar personalities.”
Aidan recently appeared on the Graham Norton show where he admitted the infamous scything scene from the previous season left someone to “walk off in a bit of a huff.”
He said: “The chairman of the Scything Association came to give me lessons but I didn’t think the proper way to do it looked very impressive so I just went for it.
“He tried to give me notes but I didn’t take any notice and he left in a bit of a huff.”
He also mentioned his “secret” skill as a ballroom dancer.
Poldark season four returns June 10 at 9pm on BBC One.
