The legendary Ricky has been absent from EastEnders since 2012, when he left following the reveal that Bianca Jackson’s (played by Patsy Palmer) daughter Tiffany Butcher (Maisie Smith) is actually his biological daughter.
He recently revealed that his former colleague June Brown, who plays Dot Branning on the soap, has promised to get him back on the show.
A return for the character could be welcomed by Sid, as he mentioned in 2016 that he ought to return to finish Ricky’s storyline.
Sid recently told OK! magazine: “[June] was trying to convince me to come back to EastEnders.

“She was like: ‘I’m going to have a word and get you back.”
With June on the case with the soap’s bosses, Sid went on to admit that he misses the show.
"You do miss the routine sometimes, and that camaraderie.
“It’s very family-orientated because your friends are there."

Whilst Sid could be on his way back to the EastEnders’ set, his on-screen lover Bianca has other priorities.
Last year she told Loose Women that she did not miss acting and preferred to focus on other projects.
Patsy now lives in America, and revealed to panellist Jane Moore on the show that she is working with an executive TV producer.
“We are trying to develop something. It’s not a drama.

Sid is best known for his role as the BBC’s mechanic, but has since been carrying out charity work, and running his own restaurant in France.
This week’s soap schedule has been shaken up due to football and rugby matches, and the Brit awards.
EastEnders continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on BBC One.
