GAME OF THRONES star Liam Cunningham has finally read through the scripts for season eight and has warned fans that it is a "bittersweet" ending.

The actor, who stars as Ser Davos Seaworth, admitted that he became rather nervous ahead of the first read through.
"I was getting excited and nervous," he confessed. "I wanted to see what was going on.
"One of the main reasons was to get to the last season, and I've been waiting on the scripts to see if I can get to the last episodes."
However, he went on to add that he was left stunned by the script for the final series, telling Metro: "It was all new to us, and it is just, 'Oohs,’ and, 'Aahs'.

"It is as it was in the past, it is just beautiful storytelling. Huge surprises. Wonderful stuff.
"I can safely say it will be a fantastic, fantastic finish to this incredible story."
Furthermore, Liam added: "It had a bittersweet aspect to it because it was the last time we are going to do it.
"It was incredibly special and moving. It was nice but slightly sad."

It comes after Ser Jorah Mormont star Iain Glenn hinted at the reason behind season eight's delay.
"We're all starting to be in the same storyline and so they can't have two filming units anymore," he explained.
"I think this last season will take much longer to shoot because they can only use one unit, because we're all in the same sort of scenes."
Game of Thrones is expected to return to Sky Atlantic in 2019.
