Cagney & Lacey star Sharon Gless will star in BBC's Casualty
The Cagney & Lacey star will join the BBC medical drama playing top surgeon Zsa Zsa Harper Jenkinson when the series returns later this summer.
The 74-year-old actress, who shot to fame as New York cop Christine Cagney in the hit 1980s US police drama, says: “I’m a rabid Anglophile. Some of our finest American TV is British. Zsa Zsa is a wonderful character and I hope you all enjoy her too.”
The Emmy and Golden Globe winner has also appeared in US TV series Burn Notice and the American version of the UK series Queer As Folk.
Cagney & Lacey was one of the most iconic shows of the Eighties.

It focused on the lives of two women polices officers, Cagney and Mary Beth Lacey, played by Tyne Daly.

Last night viewers watched Casualty’s first “one shot” episode (filmed with a cable free camera) as the long running drama came to a series end.
