The first episode of the BBC’s hit period drama is expected to face Cowell’s Britain’s Got Talent in the ratings battle of 2017.
Schedules are yet to be finally confirmed, but early planning suggests that the first episode of season three of Poldark will go up against the BGT final on Sunday 4 June.
The talent show recorded an audience of 10m viewers last year for its final, compared with a season average of around five million for Poldark in its second outing.
The Cornish drama, adapted from Winston Graham’s novels, returns in June with a birth, death and a marriage.
