Ian Huntley’s daughter: 'He will never deserve to be called dad'
Ian was sentenced to a minimum of 40 years in prison after he killed Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, both 10, in Cambridgeshire in 2002.
But despite the mass coverage the murder received, the killer's daughter Samantha Bryan, now 18, has revealed it wasn't until she took part in a school research project four years ago that she discovered who her father was.
Samantha's mother, Katie Bryan, left Ian before her daughter was born after finally conjuring up the courage to flee the life of abuse he encroached upon her.
Samantha admitted she found out her father's identity at school
He doesn't even deserve to be known or called my biological father
Speaking about the devastating moment she discovered the true identity of her father, Samantha revealed: "I found out through school. We was doing the crime rates in Grimsby and Cleethorpes and – so that's all I put into Google and the picture of my mum came up so I clicked on it which took me straight to the story.
"I was extremely upset, I didn't really know what to think. I wasn't angry at my mum for not telling me what he'd done because at that age I – I wouldn't want my children to know that."
Just before her 18th birthday, Samantha was given a box filled with newspaper cuttings about her father, with the teen admitting: "It took me a while to read because I was crying that much."
