Star Trek Discovery: Harry Potter's Jason Isaacs 'confirmed to play Captain Lorca'
JASON ISAACS will head up the Starship Discovery in CBS's new adaptation of Star Trek, it's been reported.
Jason Isaacs joins the cast of Star Trek: Discovery
Jason is best known for his role as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter franchise but will now play Captain Lorca in the new series according to Variety.
However, unlike previous Star Trek series which have seen the captain take centre stage, Discovery will see a lieutenant commander "with caveats" take the protagonist role.
Creator Bryan Fuller spoke about the new series last year, saying: "We've seen six series from the captain's point of view.
"To see a character from a different perspective on the starship - one who has a different dynamic relationship with a captain and subordinates - gave us richer context," he added.

Jason's character will not take a protagonist role like previous captains
The series was originally due to air in January 2017 but was reportedly pushed back because of extensive post-production requirements.
CBS CEO Les Moonves defended the decision, saying: "It's important to get it right, and Star Trek is the family jewels."
Jason will be joining Sonequa Martin-Green from The Walking Dead on the new series.

She is set to play Lieutenant Commander Rainsford and will feature as the show's lead protagonist.
It is thought that she will be able to continue her role as Sasha on The Walking Dead but after episode 12's recent cliffhanger, fans are wondering if her character will be the next to die.
Star Trek: Discovery is due to air on CBS later this year.
