THERE have been countless weddings on the ITV soap but Coronation Street is preparing to air its first ever Muslim wedding next month.

The romantic ceremony will see Zeedan Nazir tie the knot with his girlfriend Rana Habeeb in upcoming scenes.
Zeedan met Rana back in February when he was at a low point and viewers were thrilled when they became engaged.
It will be the first time a Muslim wedding has been broadcast in the Weatherfield-set soap's 56-year history.
And it's not just viewers who are excited to watch the big day, Qasim Akhtar, who plays Zeedan, said he's looking forward to seeing the nuptials onscreen.

Speaking about the storyline, he explained: "What you have to realise is that this guy's gone through so much heartbreak in his life fro such a young age so when she came into his life it was like a breath of fresh air.
"His mum's passed away, his dad burnt to death in a fire, his grandad has run out on the family, so he looks to Rana as his future."
The actor went on to tell The Sun: "It's always nice to show different cultures and ethnicities and the best way to do it is through television, nowadays you see a lot more of it than you would 20 years ago.
"We went to the shop with the costume girls to pick our outfits, they are really in your face, gold and diamonds, we were so happy with them."

Zeedan and Rana's wedding won't go smoothly though.
After watching his grandparents' marriage fall apart, he will reconsider his decision and tell Rana that he can't marry her.
But his grandmother Yasmeen is not about to let him lose the love of his life and urges him to try and persuade Rana to take him back.
He will go to great lengths to get their relationship back on track and even lures Rana to their wedding venue where he hopes she will agree to go ahead with the marriage.
Coronation Street continues tonight on ITV at 7.30pm.
