The 76-year-old Eighties icon was briefly seen for the first time in the series playing character Tabitha 'Tabby' Maxwell-Brown this evening.
Linda’s alter-ego was in a sunny and glamorous location – not dissimilar to the Southfork Ranch - in America as she spoke on the phone to her onscreen daughter Marnie Nightingale (played by Lysette Anthony).
Marnie had been hiding from her mother the fact that she was back with her ex-husband but finally ‘fessed up to it during the phone call scene.
“It seems we have a lot to catch up on,” Tabby was heard telling her.
It appears that many soap fans did not realise the Dallas legend Linda was joining Hollyoaks in a guest role and were left confused by her appearance and many took to social media to express their shock at the Channel 4 drama.
“Am I seeing things? Thought I just saw Linda Grey aka Sue Ellen from Dallas, on Hollyoaks!!!!” posted one person on Twitter.
Another wrote: “Sorry did I just spy sue Ellen in hollyoaks? Dallas days r over #hollyoaks.”(sic)

Tabby rushes to the UK to help her daughter Marnie (Lysette Anthony), who is in financial trouble after investing in a property development scam. However, Marnie ends up being stuck in the middle between her man her and her mum.
Linda is set to inject some Hollywood glamour into the Chester-based programme following the death of her character's husband.

I'm thrilled to be going from one iconic series to another and can't wait to work with the fantastic Hollyoaks cast.
She appeared in Dallas from its pilot episode in 1978 and was a major cast member until 1989.
The TV veteran reprised her role when the long-running US soap opera was revived in 2012 until 2014.
Linda previously said of her latest role: "I'm thrilled to be going from one iconic series to another and can't wait to work with the fantastic cast."
"Hollyoaks viewers are going to love it when Tabby whips up a storm just like Sue Ellen did," she continued.
Bryan Kirkwood, Hollyoaks executive producer, also shared: "When we came to discuss who could possibly play Marnie's mother the list was very small."
Hollyoaks airs tonight at 6.30pm on Channel 4.
