Matt Baker pulled from The One Show just hours before live episode goes on air
MATT BAKER has been pulled from The One Show tonight after being struck down with a mystery illness.
Matt Baker absent from The One Show
The 38-year-old presenter was forced to hang up his duties as co-host alongside Alex Jones for this evening’s show, and was instead replaced by Gyles Brandreth.
A spokesperson for the BBC talk show confirmed the temporary swap on the programme’s official Twitter account just hours before the live instalment was due to go on air.
“Sadly #MattBaker is ill today so won't be presenting. Luckily @GylesB1 is here to step into the breach! #hero,” they said.
Twitter was ablaze with well-wishes for the Countryfile presenter, with one fan posting: “Oh no! Get well soon Matt, (think Olympics) and good luck Gyles.”

During tonight’s episode, Alex and and Gyles were joined by Colin Morgan, star of the BBC’s latest hit drama The Living and the Dead.
Alex instantly compared Colin’s character Nathan, a gentle farmer, to Matt in his absence.
“But without the Matt finish,” teased Gyles. “There’s a dark end to this story.”
The One Show continues tomorrow at 7pm on BBC One.
