Loose Women star Penny Lancaster will be appearing alongside the likes of Alfie Boe on James Martin's Saturday Morning this weekend.

This year, the ITV personality and Rod Stewart will mark their 19th wedding anniversary after exchanging vows back in June 2007.

The couple first crossed paths in 1998 after Penny, who was 27 years old at the time, was dared to ask Rod for his autograph by her friend.

Following that encounter, the legendary singer invited her along on his tour as a photographer, and their relationship flourished.

The couple have two sons together, with Rod having eight in total, although Penny revealed that the journey to motherhood wasn't straightforward, reports the Mirror.

Prior to embarking on their IVF journey, Penny endured a heartbreaking miscarriage, and she once discussed her concerns about what that could mean.

She once remarked: "After my miscarriage, I feared I'd never have children. But when I looked into it, the statistics were high, and sadly, it's quite common."

In 2005, the couple welcomed their first son, Alastair Wallace, although when they decided to try again after getting married, it wasn't as straightforward. The couple had to undergo three rounds of IVF before conceiving their second son, Aiden.

During an appearance on BBC Breakfast, the 55-year-old discussed her experience with IVF.

She said: "I mean, there's a certain amount of injections you have to do, one in the stomach and one in your bottom.

"You know, I was injecting myself backstage at Rod's shows, on planes, at home, you know, like wherever it was necessary."

Discussing Rod's support throughout this period, Penny added: "Rod was very patient and very committed. And he just said, 'Look, darling, if you want to keep giving it a go, I'm right behind you. Let's go for this.'"

Nevertheless, when the couple initially met, Rod informed Penny that he didn't want any more children, something she acknowledged would've been a deal breaker.

Whilst speaking to Saga Magazine last year, Penny revealed that the pair had been considering adoption not too long ago.

She told the publication: "Now Rod always says, 'I wish I'd said yes [to babies] earlier, because then we could have had more children.'

"Even five years ago, we were talking about adopting, but it ended up not happening. We thought there might be too much of an age gap."
