Trump sparks fresh health fears during TV appearance 'It will continue to worsen'

Fears surrounding  President Trump’s health have continued to swirl after he publicly revealed details of the cognitive tests he’s taken while once again insisting he’s in “perfect health”. Speaking on Saturday, December 21, at his Rocky Mount rally, Trump claimed he had been required to identify animals during the exams, which he says he has “aced” three times, amid ongoing speculation about his mental sharpness.

“I did something no other president’s ever done. I took cognitive tests because I know that, and by the way, not easy,” he said, before boasting about his performance. Trump went on to claim that his predecessor, Joe Biden, would have struggled with the assessments, which he said involved recognising animals such as fish, lions, giraffes, and hippopotamuses.

“You get to those last questions, those last 10, 15 questions… and I aced them,” Trump said.“And no other president’s taken a cog–… Could you imagine sleepy Joe taking a cognitive test? The first question is like, ‘What is this?’ And they show a lion, a giraffe, a fish and a hippopotamus. And they say, ‘Which is the giraffe?’ I don’t think Joe would have got the first question right.”

Trump added: “I’ve taken now three cognitive tests. I’ve aced every single one of them.”

However, some social media users were not convinced by his confident display as they typed: "Trump’s health will only continue to worsen." A second replied: "If you take a dementia test and think it’s a cognitive test, then you failed both the cognitive test and the dementia test. That’s not a flex."

While a fourth remarked: "Even if they were simply cognitive tests, he talks about them like they're MENSA tests. I haven't done the research, but... I think they're only there to make sure you have the basic capabilities to think relatively clearly."

The President acknowledged that his cognitive abilities won’t always be perfect, as he shared: “There will be a time when perhaps I won’t be 100%,” he admitted. “When that time comes, I’ll let you know about it. In fact, you probably will find out about it just by watching. But that time is not now because I feel the same that I’ve felt for 50 years, I really do.”

The comments come as concerns about Trump’s health continue to mount following a recent TV appearance, during which he appeared to stumble over his words.

While announcing that funding was “on the way” to military service members, Trump appeared to mispronounce figures relating to the payout. He was meant to say that more than 1,450,000 service members would receive a “warrior dividend before Christmas”, but instead said: “One thousand four hundred and fifty thousand… think of this, one million four hundred and fifty thousand.”
