‘Gripping’ detective series ‘as good as Sherlock’ now streaming in the UK - ‘Masterpiece’

There are many detective crime series out there that are worth watching. The likes of Sherlock, Luther or Dexter took the world by storm when they came out, but it’s been a while since something new had the same impact.
But now, there’s some good news for anyone craving a “masterpiece” detective show. TV fans in the UK have fallen in love with a “gripping” series that was released in 2024, and many are already comparing it to Sherlock. The show has a 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes and has been described as “one of the best crime dramas of the year”.

The show is called High Potential, and both seasons are now available to stream on Disney+ in the UK.
It stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan Gillory, a single mum of three who works as a cleaner at the Los Angeles Police Department.
But when she unexpectedly solves a case using her sharp mind and observational skills, she’s recruited to help with real investigations.
Her IQ is 160, putting her in the “high-potential intellectual” category, and her unorthodox methods often clash with the by-the-book approach of her police partner, Detective Adam Karadec, played by Daniel Sunjata.
The story follows Morgan as she helps solve major crimes while also using LAPD resources to secretly investigate the disappearance of her daughter’s father 15 years earlier.
The series, created by Drew Goddard, is based on the hit French and Belgian show HPI.
It first aired on ABC in the US in 2024, and a second season followed in 2025 after it was renewed. Both seasons are now streaming in full in the UK.
Among many things, those who have seen it, praised the show for its plot twists and characters.
One viewer wrote: “It’s a masterpiece that’s as good as Sherlock, if not better. Anyone who loves detective shows has to see it.”
