Fans eager to see more of actress Emilia Fox can catch her in the crime drama Signora Volpe.For those who recognise Emilia Fox primarily as forensic pathologist Dr Nikki Alexander in Silent Witness, Signora Volpe provides a welcome change of scenery and bears similarities to Channel 5's The Madame Blanc Mysteries.
In the series, Fox exchanges the mortuary for sleuthing, portraying Sylvia Fox, a former MI6 operative who moves to the Italian countryside seeking a more tranquil existence.Yet tranquillity remains out of reach. Upon arriving in Italy for her niece's wedding, Sylvia finds herself immediately embroiled in a mystery when the groom vanishes and a woman's corpse is found in his garden.
These startling developments trigger a succession of investigations that see her utilising her intelligence expertise and espionage training while confronting peril at every corner, reports the Mirror.
Debuting in 2022, Signora Volpe premiered with three feature-length instalments and swiftly captivated audiences with its combination of detective work, drama and breathtaking Italian scenery.
The idyllic location offers a stark departure from the frequently dreary British settings that Silent Witness devotees will recognise.
The programme's second season premiered in 2024, and its success has already guaranteed a third run. On IMDb, the series maintains an average score of 7.5/10, with audiences commending its unhurried tempo, compelling mysteries and engaging lead performance.
One fan praised it as having "beautiful scenery with good acting and interesting stories", adding that Emilia Fox is "always a joy to watch". Heading up the cast is Emilia as Sylvia Fox. She's joined in the series by Tara Fitzgerald as Isabel Vitale, Sylvia's sister and an important figure in her fresh start in Italy. Giovanni Cirfiera features as Capitano Riva, the local police captain who regularly encounters Sylvia throughout her investigations, while Matteo Carlomagno portrays Matteo Vitale, Isabel's son and Sylvia's nephew.
