Good Morning Britain was halted to deliver a heartbreaking news update on Monday morning. Ranvir Singh announced the "absolutely tragic" story as a nine-month-old baby had been killed in a dog attack in South Wales.
Gwent Police say officers were called to a report of a dog attack at an address in Crossway, Rogiet, at around 6 pm. The infant was pronounced dead at the scene. News correspondent Jonathan Swain told the ITV presenter that a "very peaceful early Sunday evening was completely shattered" as the events "shocked" the local neighbourhood. He added that the neighbours were remaining "tight-lipped" about what happened but police are still present at the scene. The reporter said: "We understand that around six o'clock last night there were police, paramedics and even armed police arriving here after reports of a dog attack. Now we know that a nine-month-old baby was killed by that dog and pronounced dead at the scene.

"We don't know any more circumstances or information around that at the minute, like the type of dog that was involved or the people and family that were involved. Hopefully, we will get some more details on that later on today."
He continued: "All that we do know is that the dog has been seized by police and taken away from the property. There are police patrols up and down the street and around the village this morning."
Jonathan then shared that he had spoken to some of the officers and the local neighbours who are all "utterly, utterly shocked at the death of a nine-month-old baby on a quiet Sunday evening here in a small village in South Wales."
Fans of GMB were heartbroken by the update, while others seemed to be outraged. Taking to X/Twitter, one viewer wrote: "So sad poor baby and poor dog, both let down by adults who are meant to be looking after them."
Another added: "What a tragic story. You hear this so many times and I bet the family used to say the dog wouldn’t hurt a fly."
