Only Murders in the Building season 6: Will there be another series?

Only Murders in the Building airs on Disney Plus and the series finally revealed who killed Lester (Teddy Coluca) in the season five finale.

The episode not only wrapped up several major storylines, but also teased an intriguing new murder mystery that could take the main trio across the Atlantic to London.

Podcast detectives Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) were shown tuning into one of Cinda Canning's (Tina Fey) latest true crime podcasts, The Girl With the Curls.

Following a shocking discovery, it appears the trio have been handed a fresh investigation, setting the stage for season six.

Fans will be delighted to learn that Hulu has officially commissioned Only Murders in the Building for a sixth season.

The news was revealed prior to the season five finale and confirmed season six will consist of 10 episodes.

What's more, the new season will be shot abroad for the very first time, with filming set to take place in London.

Star Gomez shared her excitement about the forthcoming sixth season on her Instagram story.

"Well, looks like our fam is going to London y'all," she wrote.

"I want to thank our community and fans of @onlymurdershulu for allowing us to even have a season 6!".

"We are eternally grateful we can bring any of you any sort of joy. My deepest gratitude from Steve, Marty and myself."

Season five featured an impressive roster of guest stars, including the likes of Meryl Streep, Renée Zellweger and Keegan-Michael Key. As of now, the additional cast for the sixth series has not been announced.

In a conversation with USA Today in September, Gomez expressed her desire to continue with the programme.

"I really hope that I can just keep evolving Mabel as I get older, because I want to do this for a long time," she shared.

Only Murders in the Building airs on Disney Plus in the UK and Hulu in the US
