Ozzy Osbourne's heartbreaking funeral sees reporter burst into tears live on air
Tears flowed as a TV journalist struggled to hold back emotions while discussing the legendary Ozzy Osbourne's hearse journey through Birmingham
A TV journalist broke down in tears while discussing Ozzy Osbourne as his hearse was transported through Birmingham today. Ozzy tragically passed away last week after battling several health issues, just weeks after his final performance at Villa Park.
During a live interview on Sky News journalist Kirsty Bosley became visibly emotional while talking about Ozzy's death.
She remarked: "It's closure really... We called it the summer of Sabbath, but we didn't even make it through the summer before he died."
She choked up, before adding: "It's tragic, but I think his spirit lives on ... You can tell by the way people are joining together; that's something that can't die ... He said Birmingham forever, and that's how we feel."
The hearse first passed Ozzy's childhood home on Lodge Road, Aston, before proceeding to Birmingham city centre. Flowers were left outside the house, and its current owners also displayed a picture of Ozzy in the front bay window.
Ozzy died aged 76 last Tuesday, and his beloved wife, Sharon, 72, was seen hugging the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Zafar Iqbal, after arriving at the Black Sabbath bench where floral tributes had been laid.
Sharon was seen in tears as she laid flowers to honour her late husband, accompanied by their children Aimee, Kelly, and Jack. The funeral procession was greeted by crowds cheering, chanting his name, and throwing roses as the hearse adorned with purple flowers spelling out "Ozzy" passed by.
Musicians from Bostin Brass played Black Sabbath songs to accompany the cortege. The procession will conclude with a private funeral attended by the Prince of Darkness's close friends and family on Thursday.
His Sabbath bandmates, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler, will be there, along with James Hetfield from Metallica.
The insider added: "Singer Yungblud, who became close with Ozzy in recent years, is going to give a reading. Elton John is also hoping to join the family at the church.”
A memorial book has also been established by Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, which is currently hosting the exhibition Ozzy Osbourne (1948-2025): Working Class Hero.
