Glastonbury Festival organisers have advised people to leave the Worthy Farm venue overnight as the sweltering heatwave continues. High temperatures and sunshine have dominated the five-day extravaganza, with forecasts predicting highs of 31C on Monday as people head home after the star-studded event’s conclusion the night before.

The official Glastonbury app stated on Sunday: “To avoid queues and the heat, leave between midnight tonight and 6am Monday.” The app also offered plenty of safety tips, such as wearing sun cream, refilling water bottles, and wearing a hat, because there will likely be queues when leaving the festival site.

The 200,000 ticket holders across the site have been basking in the sunshine with little shade, with many using handheld battery-powered fans, parasols, sombreros, and ice creams to keep cool.

It came as the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) issued its second amber heat health alert, which lasts until 6pm on Tuesday in areas of the South-west of England.

Temperatures reached 27C during the Legends slot as fans listened to Rod Stewart. The rocker, who initially came out onto the Pyramid Stage wearing a black suit and white shirt, had to take his jacket off after several songs because it was extremely warm.

The national treasure was heard saying he took his jacket off: “It’s f****** hot.” Despite the sweltering heat, Rod produced an incredible performance and many fans praised his gig.

One person said on X: "This Rod Stewart set up to now is absolutely class. What a total legend.” A second commented: “Rod Stewart still got it at 80! #Glastonbury #RodStewart."

A third said: “Rod Stewart at 80 still better than that s**** on last night.” But, not everyone agreed, as one person said: “Waiting for Rod Stewart to hit a note.”
