Queen's legendary guitarist Brian May, 77, is "back to his old self" after suffering a stroke in August 2024. His wife, Doctor Who star Anita Dobson, 75, confirmed he was in good health during an appearance on Good Morning Britain. When hosts Ed Balls and Charlotte Hawkins enquired as to his health she said: "Thank you both for asking. I'm very happy tp say he's very well now. Back to his old self."
In early September 2024, Brian revealed he had been rushed to hospital in late August after suffering a "minor stroke". In an Instagram video the music icon ssaid: "I’m here to bring you first of all some news, I think. The good news is that I can play guitar after the events of the last few days. I say this because it was in some doubt because that little health hiccup happened about a week ago. What they called it was a ‘minor stroke’. All of a sudden, out of the blue, I didn’t have any control over this arm, so it was a little scary. I had the most fantastic care and attention from Frimley Hospital; blue lights flashing the lot, very exciting," he wrote.

He later further opened up on the full extent of his condition confessing it took him "sheer willpower" to recover. “I couldn’t get a fork from the table to my mouth without it all going all over the place,” he recalled. “It was scary.”
Fortunately his recovery was quick as he said: “After only a few days, it’s amazing what you can get back. By sheer willpower, you just start retraining your muscle,” he said in a chat with Premier Guitar magazine in February this year.
Assuring them he was "good" he estimated he had regained 95% of his abilities and said that “is enough."
Anita and Brian have been together for almost 40 years having first met in 1986. They married in November 2000.

Anita was apearing on the show to discuss her recent surprise return to EastEnders as Angie Watts and her role as the enigmatic Mrs Flood in Doctor Who.
She admitted she was forced to ignore a call from Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies for fear she would let her cameo in the EastEnders 40th anniversary slip.
"He sent me a message, and I thought, no, if I say anything, he's probably gonna ask or he might know something.
"I might be tempted to (let slip) a spoiler or something. So I thought, I'll ring him afterwards. That's what I do. But I nearly rang him up just before, when they asked me and...then I thought: 'No, this is my decision. I went with my gut'," she said.
