Call The Midwife stars tease 'hard times' to come in BBC show
EXCLUSIVE: Call The Midwife's Rosalind Clifford and Cyril Robinson have been fighting an attraction to each other throughout the current series.
Call the Midwife: Cyril tells Rosalind he is going to Jamacia
Call The Midwife fans have been on tenterhooks in recent week as the chemistry between midwife Rosalind Clifford (Natalie Quarry) and social worker Cyril Robinson (Zephryn Taitte) has become more and more obvious on the long running BBC period drama.
Just as it looked as if they would give into their feelings he left for Jamacia to visit his estranged wife Lucille. He returned in the latest episode (February 2), and fellow midwife Joyce Hightower (Renée Bailey) noticed their attraction so romance seems immnent for the pair.
Speaking to Express.co.uk and other media at an event in advance of the current series the stars at the centre of the story offered up their feelings on it.
"They fancy each other," Zephryn confirmed. "But it's going to be hard times for everyone I think.
"I remember speaking to someone on set, and they said they were in an interracial relationship and how hard it was in the '70s," he said. "They could never be open and flirty with each other.

"And they do have a spat with some people on the street, but I think that's the early stages of it, and I'm sure it's going get harder for them," he pondered. "And also, Cyril is still married so you have to deal with that," he pointed out.
"I'm looking forward to seeing what [creator] Heidi [Thomas] and the rest of the team bring to the table. I can't say too much. I want to spoil it," he said.
Cyril's wife Lucille Anderson (Leonie Elliott) left Poplar and the show in season 12 after she suffered a miscarriage and struggled with depression. She took a job on a maternity ward in Jamaica and has remained there ever since, although the couple haven't divorced.
Natalie agreed with her co-star that things wouldn't be easy for the couple.

"I think it's nice to see Rosalind growing up a bit, because she [was] very naive when she comes the first season [she joined].
"And I think that she learns a lot over [this] whole season about the outside world. It's kind of been really fun to explore sides of our characters that are outside of our midwifery work".
"It's so nice to see bits aside from that, and working with Zeph is lovely. However she pointed out it is "still very early days" between Cyril and Rosalind.
"We don't really know what's in store for them… but they will have a lot of trouble [to contend with]," she teased.
Call The Midwife continues on BBC One on Sunday nights at 8pm. PRevious episodes are available on BBC iPlayer.
