It Ends With Us author's next novel to be made into film after huge success of first movie

Colleen Hoover's novel Reminders Of Him is set to be adapted into a film, with Universal Pictures acquiring the rights.

Following the triumph of Colleen Hoover's novel It Ends With Us, the best-selling author is set to see her next book hit the big screen. Universal has snapped up the rights to Reminders Of Him and has even pencilled in a romantic release date for Valentine's Day 2026.

The novel has been a literary sensation, with over five million copies flying off shelves in the US alone, 6.5 million globally, and translations into 45 languages. The story centres on Kenna Rowan who returns to her hometown after a stint in prison, seeking to rekindle a relationship with her four year old daughter.

Yet, Kenna's journey to piece her life back together faces fierce resistance from those in her daughter's life who are intent on keeping her at bay. Overjoyed with the adaptation news, Colleen shared: "I am thrilled to be working with Universal to bring Kenna Rowan's world to life."

She continued, revealing the deep connection readers have with the narrative: "I hear from many readers who tell me they found something of themselves in her story of living with and through tragedy and doing the often messy and imperfect work of healing and turning the page to a fresh chapter in life.

"I am excited as Reminders of Him holds a special place in my heart too. I feel confident Universal is the right partner to do this story justice."

Colleen also expressed her enthusiasm for her new venture, Heartbones Entertainment, which she co-founded with producing partner Lauren Levine: "What better way to launch Heartbones Entertainment, my company with producing partner Lauren Levine. Our aim is to create something quite special for everyone."

The film It Ends With Us, which was released in August and starred Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni, and Brandon Sklenar in the main roles, became a box office sensation despite receiving a mixed response from critics, reports OK!

The romantic drama raked in a whopping $344.6 million worldwide on a production budget of just $25 million, with movie-goers thronging to theatres to watch it.

The plot revolves around Lily Bloom (played by Blake Lively), an aspiring entrepreneur who moves to Boston to open a flower shop after overcoming a difficult childhood.

She soon falls deeply in love with neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni), but their relationship hits rocky ground when red flags start to appear.

Her life becomes even more complicated when her first love, Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar), comes back into her life, forcing her to make a crucial decision about her future.

The film deals with complex issues such as domestic violence and thus sparked a mixed reaction from viewers due to it's sensitive nature.

Reminders of Him releases on February 13 2026.
