WARNING: This article contains spoilers for House Of The Dragon.

House Of The Dragon’s Aemond Targaryen has been playing with fire throughout this second season and now his fate has been explained.

Aemond Targaryen (played by Ewan Mitchell) has been ruling Westeros in Aegon Targaryen’s (Tom Glynn-Carney) place after he was severely burnt during the Dance Of The Dragons.

As well as acting as an interim king, Aemond actions led to his dragon Vhagar to bite off the head of Rhaenys Targaryen’s (Eve Best) dragon Meleys, leading to both of their deaths.

And in season two, episode eight, he is up to no good again as he desperately tries to convince Helaena Targaryen (Phia Saban) to ride her dragon to war.

She refuses to do so, infuriating Aemond but as he continues to try and push her to do as she’s told, Helaena unleashes an unexpected prophecy on him.

Helaena tells Aemond: “Aegon will be king again. He has yet to see victory.

“He sits on a wooden throne. And you, you’ll be dead.

“You are swallowed up in the God’s Eye and you are never seen again.”

Aemond is clearly disturbed by her prediction and tells her: “I could have you killed.”

To this, she simply replies: “It wouldn’t change anything.”

But how will news of this prophecy impact what Aemond is going to do next?

While House Of The Dragon season two is now over, there is no need to worry as it has already been renewed for a third outing.

The bad news is that if the show follows a similar timeline regarding its previous productions, season three may not arrive until sometime in 2026.

House Of The Dragon is available to watch on Sky Atlantic and HBO.
