BBC Breakfast sparked an annoyed reaction from some viewers this morning, as football fans anxiously await tomorrow’s Euro 2024 final match between England and Spain. On the BBC show today, Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt spoke to news correspondent John Watson, who was joined by England football fans in Berlin.

The fans revealed that, despite some weaker performances from England earlier on in the tournament, they were feeling confident about a victory for the team this year. After interviewing the football enthusiasts, the BBC captured a video of them all singing the Phil Foden chant set to the tune of Bruce Springsteen’s Dancing in the Dark.

While many football fans are excited for tomorrow's finals, some are concerned about jinxing the win by calling the result too early. Other viewers are also tired of the seemingly endless Euro 2024 coverage, urging the presenters to “give it a rest”.

Taking to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, one fan wrote: “Yes I'm looking forward to the final. But give it a rest. #bbcbreakfast.” (sic)

“Aren’t they overdoing the build-up hype,” a second added with an emoji showing their hands covering their eyes. (sic)

Another fan fumed: “#bbcbreakfast Enough already. F*** all is coming home.” (sic)

A fourth viewer complained: “Anyone singing ‘it’s coming home’ or ‘sweet Caroline’. Go away……very far away.” (sic)

One more person warned: “I can see and hear the misery on Monday morning already [laughing emoji]. Pundits, reporters never learn when it comes to #england bog off Watson #bbcbreakfast.” (sic)

At 8pm tomorrow, England will face off against Spain in a tense Euro 2024 final match held in Berlin.

It comes after the Three Lions' 2-1 victory against the Netherlands on Wednesday saw them make it to a second consecutive European Championship final.

At the delayed Euros in 2021, England finished in second place after losing 3-2 to Italy in a penalty shootout at Wembley following a 1-1 draw.

Gareth Southgate’s England team have won nine knockout games and lost three, also losing a third-place game.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Gareth said: "There's a different feel [than 2021]. We're now in a different moment as a team, two tournaments on and a lot more big match experience.

"I guess there was less of a celebration, perhaps less satisfaction at reaching a final.

"I wouldn't say it becomes run of the mill but it's a little bit more normal for us. That statement in itself is probably a bit ridiculous given our history."

BBC Breakfast airs from 6am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
