ITV viewers' furious Vera demand as Midsomer Murders airs another repeat
Series 13 of ITV's Vera came to an end three months ago with fans complaining when DCI Stanhope was replaced by Midsomer Murders.

The new series of Midsomer Murders came under fire recently as viewers made the same demand. Vera is the ITV drama most famous for occupying the 8pm to 10pm slot on a Sunday evening, but this weekend Midsomer Murders will be airing instead, as it recently returned for its 23rd series.
This evening's episode will show Midsomer buzzing with excitement at the arrival of the annual Paramount Dance Extravaganza. However, behind the sequins and smiles there are deep-running feuds and passions and the desire to win can outweigh just about anything when the stakes are high.
The ITV drama has been back in the Sunday prime time spot for the last few weeks, but while watching fans have been less than impressed with them all making the same demand for Vera to return instead.
It's been three months since those who follow the story of DCI Stanhope got their last Vera fix. Series 13 came to an end after just three episodes, following Kenny Doughty's departure in the Christmas special.
The shorter-than-expected series left fans absolutely gutted, but not for long as news of another series was soon announced. After some speculation surrounding Vera's future, it was confirmed that the ITV drama will be back for two more feature-length episodes next year, with filming on those due to commence later this month.

But fans wished that Brenda Blethyn's character would make a quicker comeback as they took to social media to air their demands.
Posting to to X (formerly Twitter), one user wrote: "Don't know why but no matter how hard I try to like this show I can never get into it. Just bring back Vera."
Equally unimpressed, a second posted: "John Nettles made this show when he finished it went downhill still watchable but a difficult one, to be honest.”

Those who do enjoy Midsomer Murders were originally peeved as they suspected that the rest of the new series had been 'shelved' by ITV after just one episode.
The past couple of weekends have seen Britain's Got Talent crown singer Sydnie Christmas as its 2024 winner in the live final and new thriller Red eye air instead.
There was originally no indication as to when the remaining three parts will air, but it is finally back on screens this evening.
