Jason Gardiner SLAMS Gemma Collins 'I'm relieved she's gone' in bitter Dancing on Ice feud
DANCING ON ICE saw the most talked about star this season bow out of the competition last night as Gemma Collins was sent home. But judge Jason Gardiner has now expressed his relief at this turn of events.
Dancing on Ice: Gemma Collins ELIMINATED from show
Jason and Gemma came to blows a few times during the ITV contest when they had some fiery clashes.
Although their exchanges have become measured in recent weeks, it seems as though Jason wasn’t too sad to see her go.
In an appearance on Lorraine Kelly's show today, the host asked Jason how he felt about Gemma’s Dancing On Ice exit.
Lorraine began by asking the judge if he was relieved that the reality star had been given the chop.
I’m relieved for the other contestants in the show
He told her: “I think I’m relieved for the other contestants in the show."
“The focus can now be on their merit and how hard they’ve worked.”
Jason also told Lorraine how he wasn’t aware of who Gemma was before she signed on to the programme.
He explained: “I didn’t know who Gemma was until this series, I’ve never seen her show so I wasn’t familiar with who she was.
“It wasn’t personal until it got personal.”
Lorraine went on to ask Jason about how the show had become all about Gemma and himself for this season.
Jason then expressed “regret” at the attention being focused on him and Gemma.
“I do regret that, the other contestants have been blooming while this has been blooming going on!
“The contestants that we have in the show now have their time to shine.”
Gemma didn’t seem too upset to make her exit from the programme last night as she said it was her time to leave.
After performing her skate off routine, she told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: “I’m ready to hand it over.
“Saira went last week - I really need to go now. I’m exhausted as well!”
She did also share how she had had fun performing and that she “worked really hard” over the routine.
Jason replied: “That’s great Gemma… the problem is this is a competition and you’re nowhere near any of the others.
“Even during the static dance pieces you were out of time and it was lamely executed.”
Dancing On Ice continues Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
