Corrie: Rana tells Alya she might split up with Kate
Coronation Street is not shy about killing off huge characters.
And with the mysterious factory collapse storyline looming, fans are slowly but surely gearing up to see some of their favourite characters being tragically killed.
But another death has now been announced to stoke the fire even further, and will surely leave many fans utterly devastated.
Rana Habeeb (played by Bhavna Limbachia) has had a rollercoaster of a journey in the past year, and it could be about to get a lot worse.
Rana is going to be killed off in a tragic ending which will see her newly-announced fiancée Kate Connor (Faye Brookes) inconsolable.
According to The Mirror, Rana’s death will be held on her wedding day, leaving her to die in Kate’s arms.
Bhavna herself confirmed the news in a video posted on her Twitter account.
In the video she announced: “I do have some news: My journey at Coronation Street will be coming to an end.
“But don’t worry guys, I have extended my contract, I’ve had a wonderful time here but there’s still lots more to film.”
She went on to praise her producer, adding: “And I’m grateful to Iain [MacLeod] for respecting my decision to leave, and we have collaborated to come up with an amazing exit storyline.”
“I really should get going now,” she signed off. “Because these scenes aren’t going to film themselves!”
It is currently unclear exactly how Rana will be dying in the show, but a source recently told The Mirror: “This was very much Bhavna’s decision.
“She told Kate Oates last year she wanted to try other things, and sat down with Iain the minute he joined.
"She wanted Rana to be killed off as she didn’t like the idea of just splitting them up as it would upset the fans of the show."
Rana’s death will surely shock Weatherfield, but it is almost definitely going to be an incredible event for Coronation Street.
Meanwhile, Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) is not exactly happy after he found out about his daughter’s pregnancy.
Amy’s (Elle Mulvaney) reveal spun her father in to a blind rage, prompting him to try and find out who the father of the baby is.
In a furious statement, he yelled: “We’re going to find out who got my daughter pregnant!”
“And when we do, he’s going to wish he’d never been born!”
Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
